Harrison Hall Redefines Nursing Education With Cutting-Edge Labs, Advanced Technology, and Dynamic Learning Spaces.
Harrison Hall is a new, state-of-the-art College of Nursing building with the latest technology enhanced classrooms and nursing competency labs including an actual operating room and lifelike manikins. The New College of Nursing building at the University of North Alabama helps the school further elevate its leadership role in educating students, and developing nurse faculty and nurse scientists to continue to drive the future of nursing and health care in Alabama and around the world.
The New Building design provides innovative teaching, research and collaborative spaces designed to advance the missions of the UNA College of Nursing. Located at the north-west portion of the campus, the building provides an updated anchor to UNA’s campus. The main entrance connects the building with one of the small plazas of the campus pedestrian walks. The lobbies provide opportunities for studying, informal meetings, social gatherings, and snacking, while clarifying circulation and providing connections to teaching, research and faculty spaces. The back of the building has a central courtyard that provides important student circulation. The 67,000-square-foot project features 6 classrooms of 1,500 square feet each and 9,000 square feet of administration-faculty areas. The third floor includes the basic skills lab with 16 bed stations and the simulation lab with eight simulation rooms, two debriefing rooms, two control rooms, one medical dispensing room and a nurse station.
